Energy-efficient heating system reduces consumption

Catena continues to invest in sustainable energy solutions for our properties. In Gothenburg, we have recently upgraded the heating system in the Backa 23:2 property with a modern and efficient heating installation.

During the fall, Catena installed a new heating system in the Backa 23:2 property in Gothenburg. The new system consists of two heat pumps that draw energy from the outdoor air. The heat pumps are installed on the roof above the technical room and supply energy to both the heating system and the domestic hot water. They are designed to meet approximately 95 percent of the building's energy needs. To complement the heat pumps, we have also installed an electric boiler.

  • Graph Down
    4070 kg CO2 savings, ton/year
  • Solceller
110 000 kWh per year in energy savings

The heating system will produce the remaining approximately 5 percent of the heating demand. The total energy savings for heating are estimated to be 110,000 kWh per year. Converted using the Swedish electricity mix's emission factor of 0.037 kg CO2e/kWh, this results in a savings of 4,070 kg CO2e per year. In 2022, we will continue our work to explore opportunities to further optimize the ventilation system in the property.
