Europe's first daily autonomous freight operations on Catena’s property

Catenas co-operation partner Einride is operating autonomous transports for Apotea between their warehouses, located at Catena’s property in Morgongåva. The heavy duty vehicle operates fully autonomously at the site, without a driver onboard.

Einride’s platform offering includes connected electric and autonomous heavy-duty vehicles, charging infrastructure and an intelligent freight operating system, and is an addition to the manned, electric transportation services that Einride has conducted for Apotea since 2022. As the route is adjacent and open to a public road, operations take place with a public road permit.

Since the start of operations at the property in 2022, Einride has already driven almost 800,000 electric km’s at Apotea, equivalent to 20 laps around earth, with electric trucks with drivers, saving 917,000 kg CO2e.

Catena has partnered with Einride to equip some of Catena’s sites with Einride’s smart charging stations since 2024. The aim is to support a faster transition to electrification and contribute to decarbonisation.
