Beehives at our facilities

At Catena, we work diligently to ensure our properties contribute positively to biodiversity. As part of our efforts, we have placed beehives at several of our properties.

These beehives are just one of many initiatives aimed at increasing species richness and ensuring genetic variation. In some locations, beehives are the best solution, while other measures are better suited elsewhere. Through carefully planned actions, we strive to enhance biodiversity across all our properties.

Did you know that honey is a 100% natural product with impressive shelf life? Without additives, honey can stay fresh for up to 24 months after bottling, according to the Swedish Food Agency.

How do we know that what we’re doing is effective?

To ensure that our efforts to promote biodiversity yield results, we continuously monitor our initiatives. Our goal is to quantify natural values, which allows for net-zero impact in new developments. We also see significant opportunities to improve biodiversity on our existing properties, where specific measures can achieve a net-positive outcome.

Knowledge and collaboration are keys to success

A core part of our work is building knowledge both internally and externally. We strive to develop our methods and offerings while strengthening collaboration with construction contractors and tenants. This aims to raise awareness of why biodiversity is so important. Transforming negative impacts into positive ones is a challenging process, but a necessary one. We don’t have all the answers yet, but our journey towards improved biodiversity is far from over.
